SONOMA, California — November 4, 2026. Julian Mackie was ahead in the election for Sonoma City Council District 1, one of the municipality’s local contests on the November 3 ballot. KQED’s county results display listed 331 votes (58.7%) for Mackie, 132 (23.4%) for Michael L. Menefee and 100 (17.7%) for Peggy Hutton.
One district, one seat
This contest determines the representative of District 1, not the city’s mayor. Voters living outside the district do not necessarily vote in this election. It would be incorrect to combine its tally with district races in other cities or county supervisor contests.
Early numbers are not final
A large initial percentage does not end the canvass. Additional mail, conditional and other valid ballots can still be processed by Sonoma County election officials. California58 identifies the lead without treating the office as legally awarded.
Local responsibilities
Sonoma’s council makes decisions involving development, city finances, roads, public facilities and community services. The elected district representative joins the council rather than acting alone on policy questions.
